Marvel Studios has confirmed that its upcoming Fantastic Four (2025) film will omit the classic Negative Zone storyline from its Phase Six debut.
Instead, director Matt Shakman is steering the Marvel First Family toward a fresh “Corruption Arc” featuring The Watcher and multiversal stakes that will hook into future phases.
The decision drops the Negative Zone in favor of new cosmic drama, focusing on Reed Richards’s team navigating a fractured universe with unpredictable allies and villains.
While some longtime fans express concern, this narrative pivot aims to integrate deeper multiverse concepts and set up larger crossovers. Shakman promises this reinvention will expand the Fantastic Four’s role in the MCU’s evolving saga, delivering high-stakes adventure without relying on past tropes.
